For babies, children and teens, a bedroom is more than a place to lay their heads at night.  Their bedroom is a place to play, to do school work, read, and daydream.

Whether you're scoping out ideas for your new home, kicking around ideas for a creative makeover, or considering a complete remodel - be mindful that your goal should be to establish a space that provides multiple purposes, and is both cozy, and functional as your child grows.

Here are some of our examples starting with the most dreamy nursery a little girl could ever hope for.

According to Clarissa Allison of Louie Lighting, "without the correct lighting no space is truly complete."  This statement alone makes this woman very clever in my book.  In this industry we see a variety of lighting styles from basic builder grade to Swarovski Crystal chandeliers.

Forget renovating your kitchen! Who wants to take on THAT project?  Replacing or upgrading your lighting is a simple way to make a big change to your kitchen or dining area.  Here are a few different styles from our portfolio that is sure to bring out the designer in you.

Mimi Erickson Photography LLC (C) Mimi Erickson Photography LLC 2016-11-07T22:00:36Z 2016-11-07T22:00:36Z Fresh From the Farmhouse

This gorgoues farmhouse sits in Georgia's countryside where living is a little slower. The small country town has one major intersection and one round-about going through town.

Built for todays equestrian family, this home embraces everyone with hospitality with its unique and warm living space custom crafted for now and years to come.

While there are many aspects of this farmhouse that I love, one of the more intriguing details is the amazing river rock flooring in the mud room. The floor offers this space a natural vibe, not to mention its a clever way to hide dirt in a high traffic area. As a mom, I love hiding some dirt.  The farmhouse sink in the mud room is also a riviting addition. Let's all raise our hands if we need a sink in our mud rooms.  The double front doors, paired gracefully with the painted hunter green finish, and the classic clear glass helps bring the overall experience of the entire door unit together.  This beautiful home is infused with vintage style lighting and the library is adorned with old world charm and regal appeal.  They have incorporated rustic wood beams in the living area and a ship lap wall behind the fireplace.  The large decorative wall hangings are sure to catch the attention of anyone with an eye for details.

Architectural Digest posted it's picks for one of my favorite areas of the home, the foyers.  Although they are merely a passage into the rest of your home, they can provide a design punch that sets the tone for your home.

This four-sided brick Atlanta bungalow is 2334 square feet and was originally built in the 1940's.  The arched front door adds a unique yet minimal look to the entryway that can be admired from the curb.  I seriously want to live here.  This home is spot on for creating a space that brings together a medley of charming influences that work in any home.  The lux hues, soft linens, and classic furnishings will leave you swooning over the elegance of this adorable home.  I almost forgot, this beauty is only a walk or bicycle ride away from Chastain Park.

Mimi Erickson Photography LLC (C) Mimi Erickson Photography LLC 2016-10-22T16:13:58Z 2016-10-22T16:13:58Z Built on the past, craft for the future.

We all have that one pinterest board filled with barn and pallet wood DIY projects.  Why?  I'll tell you.

There is rich character and charm in reclaimed wood.  It's undeniable.  Chip and Joanna Gaines are not the only ones that love and admire restoration and salvaged materials when renovating a home.

This 5526 square foot home is the epitome of southern luxury.  The home was renovated with century old bricks and reclaimed wood that was used for the exposed beams in the kitchen and den.  The kitchen is accented with reclaimed bricks that compliment the gorgous cabinetry and quartz countertop island.

The front porch boarded ceiling draw the eyes up and the molding around the porch is impressive.

The bright white painted shiplap ceiling adds insulation as well as texture to this precious little girl bedroom.

Lastly, the addition of the saline pool with the carriage house to the side.  This home is rejuvination; built on the past, craft for the future.

The new tiny house epidemic is real. It's legit! Not all tiny houses have you sleeping with your face two inches from the ceiling either.

We recently photographed this 500 square foot home in the heart of Atlanta.  Comfort, storage, and luxury living were not spared in designing this charming tiny home.

Take a look for yourself.

Noteworthy craftsmanship is clear throughout this French Country estate designed by award winning architect Norman Davenport Askins. Designs in the home include mixed pattern, ruffles, and subdued hues.  This home features reclaimed wood beams, millwork from Europe, and beautifully custom designed iron handrails and balusters. This home is elegant and inviting to all.

We all know that professional photography almost always* looks better than pictures taken with a phone.  But did you ever wonder how much of a difference it can make?  Studies show it's between $934 and $116,076.  Now that's something to get excited about, and a great ROI!

Sometimes a house does all the talking and this week's home sure has plenty to say!

Made from nothing other than a train caboose this house is truly one of a kind and the best part? Not a shred of comfort was sacrificed in this unique home.

Truly a place to remember!

Mimi Erickson Photography LLC (C) Mimi Erickson Photography LLC 2016-06-16T19:15:05Z 2016-06-16T19:15:05Z Beautiful Marietta Home

When it comes to luxury in Atlanta it's hard to top the prestigious Marietta Country Club and it's very easy to see why. Houses in this country club are gorgeous and this one is no exception.

Spacious open plans and soaring ceilings give this gorgeous property an air of elegance that's matched by the trim lawn and beautiful surroundings which make this house a retreat-like paradise for lucky families.

Every detail about this house –including the home theater, the enormous master bedroom, the home gym and more– has been lovingly crafted to make living in this property an unique experience.

Mimi Erickson Photography LLC (C) Mimi Erickson Photography LLC 2016-06-09T20:12:32Z 2016-06-09T20:12:32Z It's time to go outside!

It would be silly to expect every person to like summer. After all, every season has something to offer.

However, no one can deny that summer is the perfect season to go outdoors and enjoy the weather which is why we're taking this blog entry outside!

Is there anything that screams 'summer' more than the chance to jump in a pool?

I don't think so, particularly when the pool looks something like this!

Now THAT is a pool worth sharing.

Of course, no summer getaway is complete without a place to set up a BBQ or a bonfire so check out the next setups and tell me you don't feel like sitting down and enjoying a cold drink.

Whether you love summer or not, there's no denying the charm of chilling in a beautiful patio, don't you think?

Mimi Erickson Photography LLC (C) Mimi Erickson Photography LLC 2016-06-02T16:47:54Z 2016-06-02T16:47:54Z Restored Historic House in Inman Park

It is said that the best way of knowing a city is to visit its landmarks and historic properties. Museums are an amazing source of knowledge but they don’t show the spirit of a city as much as buildings that have seen the lives of generations.

This house located in Inman Park is one of such buildings.

Designed by the architect Walter T. Downing in 1902, this house was owned by Ernest and Emily Woodruff and their sons. A wonderful house in its beginnings, it was used as a boarding house for a brief period of time.

Today it’s being restored to give it back its previous glory with a more modern twist. With fireplaces in almost all rooms, original tile work and exquisite carved wood, this house is coming back to life and I’m very happy I was invited to photograph it.

If you're looking for privacy, it's hard to beat over 9 acres of beautiful land and a private lake.

That's why I liked this shoot so much! This house had an almost dreamlike quality to it and its old world styling only served to reinforce the feeling.

Majestic stone terraces, a master bedroom with its own sitting room, fireplaces and a custom gourmet kitchen make of this lakefront property a sight to behold!

Mimi Erickson Photography LLC (C) Mimi Erickson Photography LLC 2016-05-06T23:11:30Z 2016-05-06T23:11:30Z Davao Hair Studio

I'm really excited to talk about this!

Recently I had the opportunity to help Davao Hair Studio coming up with photos that can show off their amazing urban look.

This was a very fun photoshoot because the studio is gorgeous, with its concrete floors and and sleek dark cabinets that give it a modern look, and unique with its creative accents such as wood plank walls and burlap bag footstools.

Hair salons don't always manage to stand out from the competition but Davao Hair Studio does it by being one-of-a-kind.

Don't forget to visit their website!

Mimi Erickson Photography LLC (C) Mimi Erickson Photography LLC 2016-04-26T00:55:04Z 2016-04-26T00:55:04Z Beautiful Morningside Home

What an enjoyable photo shoot!

This beautiful single family house in Morningside was built in the 40's and still maintains a charm that makes it unique.

The family room is easily my favorite part of the house. Those dark hardwood floors really bring out the light colors in the rooms and gives this house a lovely, cozy feel that you won't find anywhere else.

Take a look!

I usually don't post items not related to our daily lives which center around the beautiful homes and buildings we have the pleasure of photographing.  However, this past weekend Peyton and I worked long hours in some challenging weather to capture TomorrowWorld for Examiner.  It was a great experience and a lot of fun to shoot! (minus the rain and sore feet!) :)
